1.5 years after the Japanese release of the first Pokemon Movie, the US version of the film was to be released. To coincide with the US release, a VHS tape was released in Japan, known as the “Kanzenban” (complete) version. This version contained a copy of the Mewtwo that would be given away at American theatres, but it is printed with Japanese cardstock and inks. It has slightly different matte textureing, ink coloration, and looks visibly different when a light is shown through it since it lacks a black layer in the cardstock that American cards have.
