To commemorate the release of the new e-Card generation, Pokemon released a new starter deck. This contained a 30-card deck (with 12 randomized cards), a coin, counters, rulebook, and a set of instructions with an included postcard.
This postcard was used to enter the “Starter Triple Get Campaign” (スタータートリプルゲットキャンペーン) that ran from December 1, 2001 to April 30, 2002. This campaign rewarded 6 exclusive holofoil promo cards, each the final evolution of one of the generation 1 or 2 starter Pokemon.
Each starter deck contained a flyer with instructions on the front and a postcard to be mailed in on the back.
To enter, entrants had to attached 3 proof of purchases for 3 starter decks to the postcard, fill it out, and use a 50 yen stamp to mail it in.
Entrants could apply as many times as they wanted to, but each postcard would be limited to 1 entry. For each entry, participants to select one of 2 “courses”. Each course would reward winners with 3 different holofoil promo cards. These cards were holofoil versions of the non-holo cards in the main set.
